Cricket Series for Campaign to Prevent Human Trafficking

Purpose of the Event

The goal of holding a cricket tournament called “Let’s Stop Human Trafficking” was launched to educate children and young people. In the course of the tournament, it has messages in campaign against human trafficking by slogans and through banners. Which has attracted the attention of the people, especially the youth and children.

On Oct 19, 2017, New Society Reconstruction and Development Org (NSRDO), launched a cricket series between young players of Baghlan-e-Jaded district of Baghlan province in order to, campaign for prevent and fight against human trafficking which is a disgraceful phenomenon. Which attracted the attention of hundreds of people in central Baghlan as audiences. In addition to the audience the district governor, district executive director, the private school principals, community elders also participated in the closing ceremony of the cricket series. The ceremony welcomed and open by the district governor of Baghlan, where the governor lectured on the role of the tournament and said: “Sports is the best means of national unity and messaging, adding smuggling Human being is a dangerous issue that has become a problem for the youth, and it is the duty of every person in the community to fight against human trafficking. Consequently, Wassim Momand director of (NSRDO) described human trafficking as dangerous and a deterioration. Adding that unemployment, poverty and illiteracy are the factor that causes the youth of Afghanistan to be deceived. Human traffickers use children and young people to hire and traffic. Which are exploited and abused, and even exploit sexually within and out of the country. Wassim Momand added that the launch of the sports tournament is the best means and athletes are the best signalling agents for the fight against human trafficking. At the end of cricket series, Baghlan Brothers Team won the series Mr. Gohar Khan Baburi the district governor and Mr. Wasim Momand director of NSRDO distributed medals to mediators & all players and as well as distribute winning cup to the wining team. The district governor assessed the organisations performance well. The cricket series was broadcasted via Radio Pyaman and Hewad TV channel.
