Education

Service-3

Rebuilding Afghanistan’s education system is an essential strand in national development. Education opportunities for past, current and future generations of Afghan children, teenagers, and young adults have been hurt beyond belief by years of war, neglect and sometime active opposition to schooling. In particular, the rights of women and girls to education have been damaged enormously in the last decade. The goal is to rebuild the shattered educational infrastructure focused on quality and diverse opportunities for learning.

Thus, investing in education must not be seen as only in contributing to social policy objectives but as a means to guarantee success in the full range of reconstruction initiatives. NSRDO gives education top priority as it lays the foundation for making considerate decisions that will positively affect people’s lives, their families their communities.

Our focus is on the following fields:
  • Capacity building
  • Long-term & short-term trainings
  • Conducting Workshops
  • Conducting Seminars literacy for women
  • Education opportunities for the youth
  • Distribution of educational material

Accelerating Learning or Catch-up Education

NSRDO provides a short-term transitional education programme for children and youth who had been actively attending school prior to an educational disruption, which provides students with the opportunity to learn content missed because of the disruption and supports their re-entry to the formal system. NSRDO implemented the USAID Afghanistan funded program which provides accelerating learning or catch-up education program in Nangarhar province and partnered with GTZ-BEPA (Basic Education Program for Afghanistan) providing acceleration learning or catch up education program in great Paktia (Paktia , Paktika and khost provinces) in order to provide basic education facilities to new returnees in those scattered areas.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities play a vital part in the physical, mental and social upbringing of a child, adults, students, pupils and teachers, especially for their physical and mental health and refreshment. They also create healthy competition among the children, which is essential for the mental and physical growth of each child and stimulate the children to acquire positive habits and attitudes. NSRDO organizes different sport events like football match; volleyball, rope pulling, the winning & runner-up teams are awarded with trophies and medals.

The objectives of sport competitions and celebrating different national & internationals days are:

  • To establish a parents-teachers association and sensitize the parents about
    child activities inside the class/course.
  • To increase pupil’s attendance in the schools/literacy classes.
  • To improve teachers’/instructors’ activities.
  • To utilize the pupil’s potential.

Teacher/Instructor Training

There is a dire need to capacitate the teaching staff in the modern educational trends by organizing regular trainings. The teacher/instructor-training component is conducting basic and refresher trainings on educational methodologies that are widely acceptable and applied in the Afghan education sector. The effect of the training is regularly assessed both in qualitative and quantitative terms by on-the job trainings under the direct supervision of Education Manager and Supervisors.
