UN Women projects of small grants to fight against Corona – Final Report

Project Title: Door to Door Community Awareness for Fighting and Elimination against Covid-19

According to the work plan, the project started on August 15, 2020. Although the funded was not yet received, NSRDO was able to start the initial stages of the project, which included the selection of project staff. After conducting the interviews, two nurses and a project manager were hired. A one-day training program was provided on how to implement the project. Later on, the educational materials were arranged and posters were designed. The registration forms of the beneficiaries were arranged and special clothes, which were decorated with the message (prevention against the corona), were prepared and made available to the project staff. After receiving the budget, on August 25, 2020, according to the plan and budget sheet, 400 pieces of handwashing soap, 400 pieces Cotex and 400 women’s undergarments were purchased for distribution to the beneficiaries. Disinfectant liquid and masks were also purchased for the project staff. A vehicle was also hired to transport the project staff to the areas covered by the project.

On September 1, 2020, field activities were practically started and project staff were sent to the fields. Prior to the fieldwork, the activities were coordinated with the Central Baghlan district and the heads of the development councils. The campaign work started from the immigrant’s town and continued around the center of Baghlan city. The project staff were required to jointly inform and train ten families daily. The activities focused on two sensitive issues; one of which was raising awareness about of the fight against corona, and the second was the issue of women’s own health education. This program was also started under the title of door-to-door community awareness raising. According to the methodology of the project, after completing the awareness raising activities, a health kit containing 4 hand soaps, 4 packs of Cotex and 4 women’s undergarments was handed over to the trained family. The project ended on August 20, 2020 with the training of 100 families, the majority of whom were the families of returning immigrants, and with the installation of posters in the mosques of Central Baghlan in cooperation with the Baghlan Youth Unity Foundation.
